Production Method of Water-Based Boron Nitride Emulsion

1. Resources Preparation.

Get high-purity boron nitride powder. It must be free of pollutants. Also, prepare an appropriate surfactant. The surfactant assists in spreading the boron nitride in water. For example, select a non-ionic surfactant like Tween 80.

2. Blending.

Initially, put a specific quantity of water in a container. After that, add the surfactant to the water. Mix well to make the surfactant liquify evenly. Next off, slowly add the boron nitride powder while continuously stirring. Mix at a moderate speed, like 300 – 500 rpm.

3. Homogenization

Transfer the mixture to a homogenizer. Run the homogenizer at a high pressure, around 20 – 50 MPa. This step breaks down the boron nitride particles into smaller sizes and makes the emulsion more stable. Do the homogenization for about 10 – 20 minutes.​

4. Adjustment

Check the pH of the emulsion. If needed, adjust it with a pH regulator like hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide. Make sure the pH is in the range of 6 – 8 for better stability. Also, check the concentration of the boron nitride in the emulsion. Adjust by adding more water or boron nitride powder if necessary.​
