Telluride is a ski town that's a favorite among snowboarders and skiers. It has a beautiful alpine landscape and a bluebird sky. With a wide variety of terrain, there's something for everyone.
The most popular trail is See Forever. This is a long, three-mile run that provides amazing panoramic views of the La Sal Mountains. It's also a popular run for intermediates.
The San Juan Mountains have lured people to the area since the 1700s. Originally, they were used as a summer camp for Ute Indians. The first mine was founded in the mid-1870s. It was called Columbia, and it later became the town of Telluride.
The town's infrastructure is well-developed. A gondola transports pedestrians between towns, and there are five high speed quads to get you up the mountain. The prices for lift tickets are on the higher end. Buying an Epic Pass can save you 50% off single-day tickets.
For beginners, the mountain offers excellent groomed slopes and bumps. It's important to stay on the trails and stay safe, especially during a powder day. Getting stuck in too much pow can be a nightmare for powder newbies.
The terrain is steep, but the views are breathtaking. Some of the best expert runs are serviced by the Plunge lift. If you want a shorter ride, try the Prospect (Lift 12). For a more challenging experience, check out the Village (Lift 4).
There are some great places to stash powder. Look for low-angled trees off Alta.
