What is Inconel 718 materials?

Inconel 718 alloys is a precipitation-hardening nickel-iron-based superalloy
containing niobium and molybdenum. Its microstructure is austenite and has
excellent comprehensive properties. It is one of the most widely used
superalloys. The alloy has good comprehensive properties in the temperature
range of -253 to 700 °C, the yield strength below 650 °C ranks first in the
deformed superalloy, and has good fatigue resistance, radiation resistance,
oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and good performance. Good
processing performance and welding performance. It can manufacture various parts
with complex shapes, and has been widely used in the above temperature range in
aerospace, nuclear energy, petroleum industry and extrusion dies.

Why is Inconel 718 not easy to machine?

The reason behind this is that Inconel 718 has lower thermal conductivity and
higher tensile strength among all three materials. No heat dissipation occurs in
the shear zone, which reduces tool wear compared to the other two materials.

Fields of application for Inconel 718

turbine disks, rings, elastic elements, sealing elements and welded structural
parts; make liquid hydrogen, liquid oxygen rocket engines in turbine rotors and
other components; make nuclear energy industrial applications. Various elastic
